How to Craft a Business Instagram Post

Instagram is widely used and known by the younger generation (13-29 year olds). It’s a way to share pictures with your friends and families, document life events (like graduations or baptisms) and stay updated on loved ones lives, even if they are very far away. A fun fact (from Instagram) is that 90% of Instagram users follow a business. That’s why it’s so important to craft an Instagram post for your business that includes all the essential components and conveys a message that makes them want to purchase your product/service. As usual, I will be pulling my information from my class textbook, Essentials of Social Media Marketing. Instagram is mostly visual content. People share pictures on their main page and stories. Therefore, the most important component of your post is the picture. You want to show a picture of your product/service that conveys your brand message and what you’re trying to sell. For example, if you’re trying to sell a new refreshing drink, you’d want to post “aest...

3 Places I Want to Visit

I love traveling. I think it’s so fun to learn about how people live in different parts of the world and even other places in the US. Today, I’ll be telling you all about 3 places I want to visit in the near future. The first place I want to visit is Salzburg, Austria. This is number one on my bucket list. My grandma, who has since passed away grew up in this beautiful city and moved to America after WW2 because she fell in love with an American soldier from Kentucky. I’d like to visit the birthplace of Mozart, the Salzburg Cathedral, check out the coffee shops/boutiques and take pictures of the beautiful mountains. The picture I’ve attached below is the Bavarian mountains surrounding Salzburg. ( https://cdn.projectexpedition.com/photos/39563touractivitycsm_berchtesgardenwatzmannlockstein_7199d73c52_sized.jpg ) A fun fact about Salzburg (from my grandma), Hitler didn’t bomb this city during WW2 because he hid his prized paintings there! The second place I would like to visit is Sa...

A Week in my Life

Hi everyone! I thought I’d switch up my content for a post and update you all on what I do every week. My last semester of my college senior year is a lot busier than I thought it would be. I’m an accounting major with minors in marketing and management and I have a part-time job at an accounting firm in Lima. To start off my week, I wake up bright and early Monday morning at 7:30 am to get to my 8 am tax class. Right now, we are doing a self-study period where we work to get certified to complete taxes. ONU has a program called VITA, where residents of Ada (with simple tax returns) can come to campus and us students will complete the return for them! Next, I walk back to my house and honestly nap until my next class at 11 (which is not very productive). My 11 am is database management and we are learning how to import/export data into Microsoft Access and all the things you can do with said data. After my class, I walk home and eat lunch and drive to work. I get to work around 1:30 an...

How to Make a Facebook Page that Stands Out

Facebook is a widely used social media site that can be used for many purposes. There are almost 3 billion users monthly, with 1.9 billion of those users visiting daily. ( https://backlinko.com/facebook-users ). Whether it’s keeping up with your family members and friends or promoting yourself and your business, it’s very useful. Today I will be telling you all about how to make a Facebook page that will attract customers to your small (or large) business.  Image from Pinterest According to the book, The Essentials of Social Media Marketing, by Michelle Charello, the first step to making an attractive Facebook page is likely the most important. It is developing a profile and cover photo. These should convey either your mission statement or the logo of your company. The next step is to provide a call to action for the customers. Include an email, phone number, website or any other link to ensure that there is a way to contact you and see what your business has to offer. Along...

Social Media Advertising

Social media advertising is very important for a business to do. After reading chapter 3 about social media advertising in the book, Essentials of Social Media Marketing , by Michelle Charello, I have some things that I learned, that I would like to share. To successfully advertise and catch the consumers attention, businesses will use what is called the ad funnel. It starts off by sparking awareness, whether that’s through a video on Twitter, an infographic on Instagram or even a blog/article online. Then it funnels down into sparking interest in the product/service by throwing in a customer testimonial (gets you to trust them), case study or a webinar. The more information they give you about a product, the more likely you are to consider it. No one likes to be out of the know. Finally, they get you to take action. This could be from a free trial, demonstration or a coupon. Most people love discounts or things that are free, so that’s when you get hooked. To be able to properly...

I Made a Podcast

This past week I wrote a podcast on social media trends, specifically how keeping up with the ever-changing world of trends can be an issue. If you’d like to listen to it, I’ve linked it below. https://www.dropbox.com/s/h92iluu7ftn6l9w/Social-Media-Issue-Podcast.mp4?dl=0 I talked about why it’s important to keep up with trends and how you can do that for your business/company you work for. I think, for a world that’s evolved to spend a good portion of their day online, it can be a blessing and a curse. Social media allows us to be closer together when there’s a big physical distance between us. However, social media can also be addicting, and many (including me) spend way too much time on our phones. Personally, I don’t participate in trends whether it be on Tiktok or Instagram. But that doesn’t stop me from watching others do them and getting entertainment from it. As I briefly touched on in the podcast, businesses and people trying to sell/market their products to younger consu...

3 Steps to Finding Your Personal Brand

Today I’m going to give a brief overview of how to find your personal brand. After reading the chapter about personal branding in the book, The Essentials of Social Media Marketing , by Michelle Charello, I want to share some of the concepts I found intriguing and how you can develop your own! Your personal brand is others' perception of you and you can shape that in many ways. The first step to finding your own personal brand is to look for your target audience. What companies would you like to work for and what part of your degree would you like to utilize? If you don't go to college, that's totally fine. Any training toward your future career can help shape you personal brand just the same.  If you’re like me and have a major and multiple other areas of study, it can be hard to decide. I’m majoring in accounting and have it narrowed down to performing audits for various companies in the public accounting field. The second step to developing your personal brand is to fi...
