6 of My Favorite Hobbies

This week I would like to tell you all about what I do in my free time. I wouldn’t say I’m a very active person, but I am always looking for something to do. I’ve narrowed it down to six activities.

1. Sleeping. While this hobby might seem like a necessity, this is hands down one of my favorite things to do. Honestly, a little sleep can fix any situation. Studies show that adults need at least 7 hours of sleep per night. I function best after 9. Also, a short nap during the day (20-30 mins) can help beat the midafternoon slump. If I don’t have time to fall asleep during the day, I will still rest in my bed for a while, scrolling through social media and watching TikToks.

2. Traveling. As I’ve previously mentioned in one of my blogs, I love traveling. It’s so nice to take a break from work and school. I enjoy investigating a new area, trying new restaurants, shopping at new boutiques, and looking at the scenery of the place I’m vacationing at. My favorite places I’ve been are Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Disney World and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I thrive in both city and country locations, so almost any vacation is fun to me. I’m beyond excited because I get to travel to Germany right after I graduate (I’ve never been out of the country before)!

3. Shopping. This hobby might not be the friendliest on my bank account, but it’s so fun to me. I typically shop for clothing, jewelry, makeup products, stuffed animals, and plants. I have enough stuffed animals to fill up multiple shelves in my closet and seventeen plants. I like purchasing succulents and cacti because they’re the easiest to keep alive, but I also have a couple of houseplants and even a jade tree! I’ve attached a picture of it below.

4. Walking/Hiking. For my exercise during the day, I tend to go for the walking/hiking option. I used to run cross country in high school and I honestly don’t know how I did it. I think I could maybe run one mile now. At home and in Ada, I like walking through the neighborhoods on a nice day. I have a variety of beautiful parks in my hometown. State and local parks are usually free, and you can hike, have a picnic, and enjoy the nice weather.

5. Trying new restaurants. I love eating good food and whenever I’m in a new city I make sure to go on Yelp to find what people are recommending. I have this app called “Out of Office” where people can recommend places to visit and eat in each city. I’ll also Google restaurants that are “must visits”. My favorite types of restaurants are Thai places, steakhouses and breweries. I usually order special drinks that the waiters/waitresses recommend and since I stick with places that many people have endorsed, I don’t have too many bad experiences.

Comments

  1. You should become really active on yelp and try to become a yelp elite. I was recently made yelp elite and now I get to go to free events put on by new restaurants for free to eat their food. Great way to try new foods and support small businesses.

  2. Bodacious remarks! I foresee a remarkable botany collection in your future as I am already fascinated with your Jade Tree. Maybe when you go on your hikes you could abduct some local greenery. This would increase the plant collection without out depleting your bank account. Then you could spend more money on your other hobbies!

My Favorite Foods

There are many foods I enjoy and for this blog post I’m going to try to rank my top five. I love going out to restaurants and trying new foods, but these food combinations are tried and true. Thai Fried Rice: This food is heavenly. I could eat Thai fried rice every week for the rest of my life and not get sick of it. This is hands down my favorite food of all time. I used to enjoy Chinese fried rice until I tasted Thai. I think it has to do with the seasonings and spices they put in it. I always get my Thai fried rice with chicken because I’m allergic to shrimp. I’m getting allergy tested the second week of June to see if I outgrew my allergy and if I did, I might have a new variation of fried rice to try. Thai Jasmine in Lima, Ohio is my favorite Thai restaurant ever, it’s a must visit.       Steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans: This is a classic combination. You can get it at any steakhouse, but my favorite place to get it is at my house. My dad uses a propane grill...

3 Places I Want to Visit

I love traveling. I think it’s so fun to learn about how people live in different parts of the world and even other places in the US. Today, I’ll be telling you all about 3 places I want to visit in the near future. The first place I want to visit is Salzburg, Austria. This is number one on my bucket list. My grandma, who has since passed away grew up in this beautiful city and moved to America after WW2 because she fell in love with an American soldier from Kentucky. I’d like to visit the birthplace of Mozart, the Salzburg Cathedral, check out the coffee shops/boutiques and take pictures of the beautiful mountains. The picture I’ve attached below is the Bavarian mountains surrounding Salzburg. ( https://cdn.projectexpedition.com/photos/39563touractivitycsm_berchtesgardenwatzmannlockstein_7199d73c52_sized.jpg ) A fun fact about Salzburg (from my grandma), Hitler didn’t bomb this city during WW2 because he hid his prized paintings there! The second place I would like to visit is Sa...

How to Market on LinkedIn

LinkedIn’s users are primarily business professionals and those in college searching for a full-time job. Connecting with people on LinkedIn is an easy way to stay in touch and find out more information on what others do for work. Many businesses have LinkedIn pages and job recruiters frequently message those they think would be a good fit for the company. I use LinkedIn to share my achievements, skills, activities, and prior work experience. I get contacted by recruiters often urging me to apply for various jobs. I’m connected not only with fellow college students, but those I have worked with at Rea and Associates and business professionals that have accounting experience in the greater Cleveland area (where I am from). I’ve reached out to many asking for insight on navigating the job search in the accounting world and have found that many are quick to reply and offer advice. I get ads for accounting firms, companies in my area and even data analytics software programs. These...
