Easter is one of my favorite holidays. There’s a wonderful
reason to celebrate and be thankful, that Jesus died for our sins and rose
again! I love eating a nice Easter dinner, going to church and spending time
with my family. I also love participating in Easter egg hunts because of the
small prizes and money that is available to find. Every year my parents always
give my brothers and I a cute little Easter basket as well. This year I was
involved in two egg hunts. For one, I hid the eggs and for the other I found
them.
I am a peer mentor for the Dicke College of Business and
this year I was tasked with hiding the eggs for our annual Easter egg hunt.
They were all filled with small goodies such as candy and stress relief toys. I
hid some in bushes, trees, flowers, by electrical outlets and even buried some
in dirt and mulch so that only a small part was visible. Here’s one of my
favorite hiding spots:
We eventually gave up finding good spots to hide all the
eggs (there were a lot) and scattered them all over the lawn. The egg hunt
happened relatively quickly but there were a couple of eggs that I hid which
didn’t get found at all. One that I was proud of was right by the building
mostly buried in mulch.
The second egg hunt I was involved in happened at my
boyfriend’s house. Each year his mom hides a bunch of similar eggs, and we
receive a list of each we have to find. The categories this year were pink,
blue, green, orange, yellow, purple, metallic, glittery, polka dotted, striped
and there was only one golden egg. We could only take one out of each category
even if we found multiple. I was sadly not the winner, but I was able to find
all of my required eggs. Then the hard part began, trying to find the golden
egg. We were digging around in the woods behind the house and couldn’t find
anything! Finally, my boyfriend’s dad had to hint that it may not be visible
yet and we might want to grab some shovels. We located the spot by playing the
classic game of “hot or cold” and started poking the ground. Suddenly AJ (my
boyfriend’s brother-in-law) started digging at the ground with his hands and
emerged victorious with the golden egg (which had $40 in it)! Apparently next
year I need to be quicker. We got little prizes such as candy, bottle openers,
magnets, socks and much more. This was my first year participating in their
Easter celebrations and I plan to come back next year!
Egg hunts are complete bs I never get anything good.
