The Video Games I Played As A Child

I recently read a statistic that said 40% of the people in the world play video games. I am one of those people. As a child, I played video games with my three younger brothers. Our favorites were Mario Kart, Wii Sports, Lego Star Wars, Clash of Clans, Hay Day, and Tiny Tower. To this day, I still play Hay Day and Tiny Tower. We were extremely competitive and hated to lose.

I think that video games have a lot of pros and a lot of cons. Video games allow people to connect with one another and bond over a shared interest, they can help pass the time when there’s nothing else to do and they teach determination, even when some levels are hard to beat. However, it is easy to spend way too much time playing video games and it can even become an addiction. Having a balance is very important. I used to play video games on the Wii and Xbox, but now I stick to mainly mobile games. This is because I can play them anytime or anyplace, as long as I have Wi-Fi or data. I’ve played Hay Day my entire life, taking sabbaticals sometimes, but always redownloading it eventually. Here’s a picture of my most recent Hay Day farm.

Leveling up is very rewarding and constantly expanding my farm keeps me hooked on the game. Plus, it’s very casual and not too competitive. It’s more of a stress-relief hobby.

Another game I played as a child and still play now, is Tiny Tower. This one might be a little unfamiliar to some of you, so I will explain the concept. The goal is to build as many floors as possible. Each floor can either be a shop or an apartment building. Residents will move in, and you can see their skill sets. If they have a 9 in a specific color, that’s what type of business they will work the best in. The options for businesses are food, service, retail, entertainment and creative (for example, a tattoo parlor or art gallery). This game is honestly very addicting. My dad once had over 100 floors when he used to play the game. The currency is in coins, but you can earn dollars by doing special tasks and putting on fireworks shows on top of your tower. The coins are used to stock your shops and the dollars are used to upgrade things such as your lobby, the elevator and the top of your building. I’ve attached a screenshot of a couple floors on my tower.

In conclusion, I’m a big fan of video games. They’re fun to play and not all of them require a serious time commitment. I’d say I’m more of a casual gamer. If you’ve ever got some free time, I’d recommend downloading Hay Day and Tiny Tower!

  1. I can confirm I was also a victim of these addictive little games. While of course I also played competitive games like Madden, call of duty and more. I use to have way to many mobile games on my phone. Lord if my teachers found out how often I was playing magic tiles in there class. I would be in so much trouble and probably still in high school cause they held me back so many times. My family also fell victim to video games. I bought my house a Switch and my mom can not get enough of mario kart.

My Favorite Foods

There are many foods I enjoy and for this blog post I’m going to try to rank my top five. I love going out to restaurants and trying new foods, but these food combinations are tried and true. Thai Fried Rice: This food is heavenly. I could eat Thai fried rice every week for the rest of my life and not get sick of it. This is hands down my favorite food of all time. I used to enjoy Chinese fried rice until I tasted Thai. I think it has to do with the seasonings and spices they put in it. I always get my Thai fried rice with chicken because I’m allergic to shrimp. I’m getting allergy tested the second week of June to see if I outgrew my allergy and if I did, I might have a new variation of fried rice to try. Thai Jasmine in Lima, Ohio is my favorite Thai restaurant ever, it’s a must visit.       Steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans: This is a classic combination. You can get it at any steakhouse, but my favorite place to get it is at my house. My dad uses a propane grill...

3 Places I Want to Visit

I love traveling. I think it’s so fun to learn about how people live in different parts of the world and even other places in the US. Today, I’ll be telling you all about 3 places I want to visit in the near future. The first place I want to visit is Salzburg, Austria. This is number one on my bucket list. My grandma, who has since passed away grew up in this beautiful city and moved to America after WW2 because she fell in love with an American soldier from Kentucky. I’d like to visit the birthplace of Mozart, the Salzburg Cathedral, check out the coffee shops/boutiques and take pictures of the beautiful mountains. The picture I’ve attached below is the Bavarian mountains surrounding Salzburg. ( https://cdn.projectexpedition.com/photos/39563touractivitycsm_berchtesgardenwatzmannlockstein_7199d73c52_sized.jpg ) A fun fact about Salzburg (from my grandma), Hitler didn’t bomb this city during WW2 because he hid his prized paintings there! The second place I would like to visit is Sa...

How to Market on LinkedIn

LinkedIn’s users are primarily business professionals and those in college searching for a full-time job. Connecting with people on LinkedIn is an easy way to stay in touch and find out more information on what others do for work. Many businesses have LinkedIn pages and job recruiters frequently message those they think would be a good fit for the company. I use LinkedIn to share my achievements, skills, activities, and prior work experience. I get contacted by recruiters often urging me to apply for various jobs. I’m connected not only with fellow college students, but those I have worked with at Rea and Associates and business professionals that have accounting experience in the greater Cleveland area (where I am from). I’ve reached out to many asking for insight on navigating the job search in the accounting world and have found that many are quick to reply and offer advice. I get ads for accounting firms, companies in my area and even data analytics software programs. These...
